At our Omi Plant (Itoigawa, Niigata Prefecture), we are promoting recycling in cement production by replacing some of the natural minerals usually used as raw materials and thermal energy with waste and byproducts.
As part of our ongoing activities for zero emissions, the Omi Plant also accepts waste and byproducts from domestic production bases throughout Japan and makes effective use of them as raw materials and as a thermal energy resource for cement, thereby keeping external emissions as low as possible.
Looking ahead, by taking full advantage of a variety of technological elements suited for the processing of waste and byproducts, and pushing ahead with recycling, we will continue to contribute to a recycling-oriented society.
In our recycling operations at the Omi Plant, we accept and utilize waste and byproducts from the auto, power, steel and other industries, as well as urban garbage incinerator ash and sewage sludge generated by local governments, as raw materials and as an alternative thermal energy resource. In addition to contributing to the creation of a recycling-oriented society, by recycling urban garbage incinerator ash and sludge, which are inescapable emissions generated through our daily lives, we are helping to extend the useful life of final waste disposal sites and reducing environmental impact.
